The objective was to examine the relationship between workload, employee engagement and somatic complaints among private sector employees in both males and females. Motivation for the research came from the understanding that many work related factors negatively impact employees' well-being. A correlational research design was used. Survey method was conducted among 100 employees in private organisations. The measuring instruments included Physical symptom inventory Scale, Quantitative Workload Inventory and Gallup Q12 questionnaire. Statistically significant relationship was found between employee engagement and somatic complaints among females. The t-test score showed males to be more engaged than females and females reported more somatic complaints then males. The implication of the research is that interventions that focus on enhancing employees' physical and psychological health will contribute to the engagement of employees. This research contributes to the knowledge that organisations must adopt female adapting working conditions and strategies at workplace.Keywords

College students encounter numerous challenges in their life such as economic difficulties, academic engagements and inappropriate time management skills which may contribute to stress and impair their academic functioning. There are myriad of factors which are involved in the academic performance. The present study aimed to assess the effect of intelligence, positive affect and negative affect on the academic performance of undergraduate students. A total of 108 undergraduate students participated in this study consisting of 55 males and 53 females and their level of intelligence, positive affect and negative affect was assessed by using Raven s' Standard Progressive Matrices and Positive and Negative Affect Schedule respectively. There academic performance was assessed by obtaining their Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). Positive affect was found to be a significant predictor of the academic performance. There was a significant gender-difference in positive affect and academic performance of undergraduate students. Moreover, there was a positive relationship between intelligence and academic performance, positive affect and academic performance. Thus, positive affect is a significant predictor of academic performance.Keywords

Engaged employees are those who are having passion towards their work, great sense towards their organization and drive innovation to further forward in organization. Leaders through their skills influence employees and motivate them for better performance, entailing this the present study seeks to investigate how Effective leadership leads to Employee Engagement. To gain insight into how to enhance employee engagement levels, this study investigated the relationship between employee engagement and six perceived leadership characterstics- Interpersonal Relations, Intellectual Operations, Behavioral and Emotional Stability, Ethical and Moral Strength, Adequacy of Communication, and Operations as a citizen. A sample of 60 school teachers in India residing in lucknow, completed the questionnaire survey, to collect the data Leadership Effectiveness Scale devised by Dr. Haseen Taj and Gallup's Q12 Questionnaire was employed which was analysed by using Mean, Standard Deviation, and Pearson Correlation. Overall, the results suggest that there is a significant correlation between Employee Engagement and the six Leadership Characterstics. Engaged employees also expressed disproportionately positive views of facets of the organization over which their leaders have significant control. In other words, organizations with leaders who help ensure, for example, that employee opinions count or that employees understand what is expected of them have a higher number of engaged employees than organizations without such leaders.Keywords

The increasing complexity of organisational environment and the intensity of competition among organisations demand the application of knowledge management in order to effectively achieve organizational objectives. This research set out to determine the main interaction effect of knowledge enablers and knowledge process capability on organizational performance. The study also sought to ascertain whether there is or not a significant relationship between knowledge management process capability and organizational performance. The study employed online survey method using questionnaire to gather primary data. The target populations of the study were employees of an Indian Public Sector (A power Generation Company). Three hypotheses were formulated and tested, using multiple regressions, t-test, and analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Pearson's Correlation method. The result of the study showed that knowledge management enablers have positive influence on organizational performance. The study equally found out that there was a positive influence knowledge management process capability on organizational performance. The study found significant positive relationship between knowledge management enablers and process capabilities on organizational performance. The conclusion is that the knowledge management variables can be predictors of organizational performance. It is recommended that other Public Sector undertakings as well as other Private Sector Organisations should imbibe the concept of organizational learning as well as ensuring that employees are well trained and developed to acquire pertinent knowledge to cope effectively with contemporary challenges.Keywords

Today's complex and cut-throat selling environment combined with rapid technological changes and globalization has raised a concern for superior performance. Firms are becoming increasingly aware of the need to have competent employees for survival and long term sustamability. The fast changes happening in the demography and social systems thereof have given chance for various HR practices enhancing the employee productivity and growth. One of the most commonly used HR practice is competency mapping for development of the employees. The aim of the study is to critically evaluate the application and use of competency framework in the Indian organizations.
